Lessons learned the first 50 years

I hit a milestone. I turned 50 years old. I am thankful that I don't feel 50.   I am thankful for things God has taught me throughout those 50 years. .  I have learned that God loves mercy and when I feel a sense that justice needs to happen over mercy, all I need to do is remember that I am thankful for when God gives me mercy instead of a just punishment.   (Micah 6:8 8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.) ( Luke 6: 36  Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. ) I have learned that hurt people end up hurting people.   When I am able to see that I didn't hurt them but I am bearing the results of that persons hurt inflicted by other people, it helps me forgive whatever hurt they pushed onto me and move on.  (Romans 12 : 18  If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. )  I have learned that anyone who thinks they have God

The original Beauty, God himself..

I saw this quote on a cyber-friends blog...

“That is, we see the glory of God, not just the glory of the heavens. We don’t just stand outside and analyze the natural world as a beam, but let the beam fall on the eyes of our heart, so that we see the source of the beauty – the original Beauty, God himself.” ~John Piper
His creation has always brought me to a place of awe and thankfulness.  I don't have to go to the ocean or to the Grand canyon.  I find awe in my own backyard..and my own community. My fish dance and play with the tadpoles and frogs that share their home.  The croaking of frogs is one of my favorite sounds of summer nights.

One of my friends thoughtfully cut these hydrangeas blooms to give as a gift  to me.. just a small thing to share with me ..and show kindness.  The flowers are beautiful because of that..and because of the beauty God put into them.

Roy today...
There is even beauty in spending time with an aged- draft horse.  He sounds like popcorn when he moves..the arthritis popping in with his  slow, gentle walks and  head turns.

I hope this weekend.. you are able to take in and see His hand in your surroundings.

Psalm 33:5  The Lord loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of his unfailing love.
