Ephesians Week 6

Ephesians 5   5  1  Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children   2  and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. 3  But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.   4  Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.   5  For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. [ a ]   6  Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.   7  Therefore do not be partners with them. 8  For you were once darkness, but now you are light i...

Feral to friendly by John-Michael

Image
I have a guest blogger today; my son, John-Michael.  I am so proud that he tries to make the world a better place, a kinder place.  He could easily say that life is too hard to help others, since he has chronic back pain from the tumor that presses on his spine. Yet, for over a year, he has helped with this non profit.... doing what he can.    John-Michael is one of a kind and we are so proud of him.   It is our hope that what we have learned while working with the Feral Cat Program of Georgia will help kittens and people all over the world. Tips for taming a feral kitten  Jamilah when we met her                     I’m   John-Michael and I volunteer for a non-profit, The Feral Cat Program of Georgia.   https://www.feralcatprogramofgeorgia.com/   I am currently working on socializing a feral kitten that I received from a rescue group ...

The Secret to Making Life Matter

Image
The happiest people are those who do the most for others. The most miserable are those who do the least. Booker T. Washington Booker T. Washington knew Christ as his savior and Booker knew that Christ calls us to serve others. Serving is the key to unlock happiness.  When we know we are doing what God calls us to do, we are happy.   Look at John 2.   On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2  and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3  When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” 4  “Woman, [ a ] why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” 5  His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” 6  Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to t...

Welcome to Wolf Man Jack!

Image
John-Michael has wanted his own dog for some time.   We already have two dogs,  Olivie; , a deaf, loud Papillon poodle mix and Dirk, an old schnauzer poodle mix who doesn't like other dogs.   I thought we had to wait until Dirk passed away from old age, but at 12 he is still active and healthy.  So, we started the puppy search.  So Enters this face: We thought instantly that he looked like WolfMan Jack.  We call him Wolfie for short..    With all of his doctor's appointments and all of his surgeries, we knew a cuddle bug was needed.  He fits the bill.   We love Wolfie. Welcome to the family.  He was born in June and has been a part of our family since early September.  He is finally potty trained.  Now if I could get him to stop chewing on shoes and on the furniture.  Ideas?

Locked out, choosing what is important...

Image
I literally have been locked out of my blog. It seems that Blogspot updated without telling me.   I also haven't had much time to write down my thoughts.  One of my  friends passed away suddenly, leaving her husband and 4 children behind.  Another one of my friends passed away in her sleep, leaving her husband and 3 children behind.  None of us are promised a day.  We have to choose to do what matters?  What should that be for a believer?   Doing the will of the Father.... What does that look like?  It looks  differently for each believer. You might be called to teach, to lead worship, to adopt, to fight for those who can't fight for themselves (children and animals), to feed the hungry, to take care of those in need...    No mater of what we are called to do, it all should look like service.     Jesus set the tone. Luke 22 14  When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles  reclined at the table.   1...

The call of Fellowship

The Fellowship of the Believers  (Acts 2) 42  They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43  Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44  All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45  They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46  Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47  praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. How cool!  God shows us in Acts the need for the church  to devote itself to  “fellowship.” What do you think about when you hear the word fellowship?   If you are a good old Baptist, you probably think of food. :)     We expect the church to...

Riding the Waves in Folly Beach

We just got back from a quick 3 day trip to Folly Beach, South Carolina.  My mother in law was able to go with us and watch as the butterflies migrated down the Atlantic coast.  Here are some of the highlights... Madeline looked for special shells  Noah dug for treasure..  I peered at the ocean and worked to get a week ahead in my Bible study on David.  JohnMichael filled up bucket after bucket to make his own puddle to sit in Madeline buried herself..  Madeline fed the birds John-Michael fed the birds  She is burying her brother..  John-Michael pretends to be ashamed  that his sister made him into a merman. We stopped to smell the flowers.. Madeline, me, Noah, John-Michael, and Russell  My mother in law with me.. I am amazed that God has loves my family and me so well...and brought us so far.  I know He KNOWS the real me...yet He doesn't give up on me. ...
