Ephesians Week 6

Ephesians 5   5  1  Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children   2  and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. 3  But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.   4  Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.   5  For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. [ a ]   6  Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.   7  Therefore do not be partners with them. 8  For you were once darkness, but now you are light i...

Stable moments

Image
There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man. Sir Winston Churchill Churchill was right.  That's why my family wants to see more children have time  with horses of all sizes.  If you google programs for a children and horses, thousands will come up.   What makes Stable Moments  different?   Several of the board members are adoptive families and have witnessed the power of horses in the lives of our own children.  Our niche is working with foster and adoptive families. .. providing resources to all of the family members, especially the parents and the fostered or adopted children.  Services start as young as 2 ..working with Pistol Pete, a miniature horse... and Gigi, our blonde miniature horse.  Even Farm cats are great cuddlers.  Pistol Pete with John-Michael Why horses with kids?  Due to trama of being neglected or aban...

Living the Gospel life

Image
http://www.desiringgod.org/blog/posts/two-big-reasons-evangelism-isn-t-working John Piper recently posted why evangelism isn't working: “ Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season” ( 2 Timothy 4:2 ). “Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt,  so that you may know how you ought to answer each person ” ( Colossians 4:5–6 ). “So faith comes from  hearing , and hearing through the word of Christ ” ( Romans 10:17 ). He goes on to say:  Paul says “know how you ought to answer each person.” This means that most of your gospel explanations will be different, not canned. It also implies a listening evangelism. How can we know how to respond to each person, if we don’t know each person? He drives his point home by saying: Love is inefficient. It slows down long enough to understand people and their objections to the gospel. Love recognizes people are complex, and meets them ...

Transitions

Image
Turning 40 was hard for me.  Not because I think 40 is "Old"... but it was a transition.  I had the sneaking feeling that I had to be error free, as errors were for those under 40. LOL...       Now, another transition.   I have been a teacher off and on  (public school and private school) for the last 23 years.    Two days ago was my last day as a paid teacher.   My youngest child has dyslexia and dysgraphia ...and needs me to be his full time teacher, which means I can't leave to teach other children.  A transition.  A new calling. My 2nd class  as a public school teacher..  my first class was 1991- 1992 at Tinsley Elementary, Bibb. co., GA My last class as a teacher   (2013-2014   1st and 2nd grade combo)  I hope there will be more time for painting.   I have been a paid artist for 15 years and the more I have time to paint...the easier it is for me.  Here are a couple I finis...

First Calling

Image
Sometimes people question why we do what we do.  Sometimes it is for good reasons, while other times it is they believe their calling should be yours,  However, there are many callings that God has given us that we all are to hear and place into action.  So, what was our "First calling"? It actually is seen in the first book of the bible, Genesis: 1 : 28  And God blessed them. And God said to them,  “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 1. Have families 2. Take care of the earth. A calling we see over and over in the New Testament is to Love the Lord your God.. and to Love your neighbor as yourself. I think as a society, we stink, at all three of these.  Families are no longer priority over wealth.... and we aren't willing to sacrifice is order to the do the best thing for our kids (esp...

Summer over?

Image
How is it that summer is almost over?  Here are a few things I haven't blogged on yet that I want to remember. John- Michael had his  yearly MRI and follow up with the surgeon. We learned that the NF tumor by his spine has grown so he will have surgery On Wednesday to remove as much of it as possible.  We rescued a puppy and gave her the shots and spaying she needed. Then, I think we found a rocking home.  See photo above..with her new family.  (She is in the bed with the children). :) John-Michael gave the horses hugs as we went a few weeks without being able to volunteer at the non-profit we have been volunteering at for nearly 2 years.  (He is hugging Spirit here). We worked as a family and build a lean to ... to provide a shelter for some horses at the rescue.    We went to Folly Beach and James Island, S.C. for vacation.  Here are my three kids (Noah, Madeline, and John-Michael with my mother in law) ....

Way different than 3.  I am up to running 12 + miles each week.  Feels great... no sign of the broken bone in my leg.   God has been gentling teaching me new things... really sitting in Philippians 3.       12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. 13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let those of us wh...
