Lessons learned the first 50 years

Image
I hit a milestone. I turned 50 years old. I am thankful that I don't feel 50.   I am thankful for things God has taught me throughout those 50 years. .  I have learned that God loves mercy and when I feel a sense that justice needs to happen over mercy, all I need to do is remember that I am thankful for when God gives me mercy instead of a just punishment.   (Micah 6:8 8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.) ( Luke 6: 36  Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. ) I have learned that hurt people end up hurting people.   When I am able to see that I didn't hurt them but I am bearing the results of that persons hurt inflicted by other people, it helps me forgive whatever hurt they pushed onto me and move on.  (Romans 12 : 18  If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. )  I have learned that anyone who thinks they have God

He Knows

I am so thankful that God knows everything (1 John 3:20), especially since I do not.  Psalm 139: 1-3 tells me :  1  O Lord , you have p searched me and known me!   2  You q know when I sit down and when I rise up;   you r discern my thoughts from afar.  3  You search out my path and my lying down   and are acquainted with all my ways.  It is reassuraring to know that he is Omniscient, knows everything. His Eyes run everywhere.  13 From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind; 14 from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth- 15 he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. . Psalm 33: 13-15 He knows everything about everybody all the time. His knowledge is perfect. He never errs, never changes, never overlooks anything. “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do” ( Hebrews 4:13 ).”  Daily, I have to remind myself of who

Facebook? No, put your face in The Book

Each day we must decide  if will we pursue Wisdom or Folly?   Pursue Wisdom.... study His word.  Get your face in THE Book!  Proverbs 9   New Living Translation (NLT) 9  Wisdom has built her house;      she has carved its seven columns. 2  She has prepared a great banquet,      mixed the wines, and set the table. 3  She has sent her servants to invite everyone to come.      She calls out from the heights overlooking the city. 4  “Come in with me,” she urges the simple.      To those who lack good judgment, she says, 5  “Come, eat my food,      and drink the wine I have mixed. 6  Leave your simple ways behind, and begin to live;      learn to use good judgment.” 7  Anyone who rebukes a mocker will get an insult in return.      Anyone who corrects the wicked will get hurt. 8  So don’t bother correcting mockers;      they will only hate you. But correct the wise,      and they will love you. 9  Instruct the wise,      and they will be even wiser. Teach the

The Secret to Making Life Matter

The happiest people are those who do the most for others. The most miserable are those who do the least. Booker T. Washington Booker T. Washington knew Christ as his savior and Booker knew that Christ calls us to serve others. Serving is the key to unlock happiness.  When we know we are doing what God calls us to do, we are happy.   Look at John 2.   On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2  and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3  When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” 4  “Woman, [ a ] why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” 5  His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” 6  Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons. We adopted our baby girl when she was 1. She was in a Siberian orphanage. We know the orphanage workers did all they could for her. In 2001, our daughter joined our biological son at home. Three years later, we would have another biological son. Our daughter is incredibly smart and even though she is completing high school in May, she will also have completed 7 college classes by May.  She is stubborn and charming. She is a hard worker and friendly. She fills the house with music and laughter. When we think of Russia, we are filled with gratitude. Our daughter is such a joy to us. We are so thankful that Russia trusted us to love her.   She is now 17......   No doubt God has great plans for her. We love our baby girl.

What is my purpose in life?

Why are we here?  What is the use? What is a person's purpose in life? We can decide the answers to these questions based on our past experiences and emotions, or on what God says.  As a person who knows Jesus came to earth to pay the penalty for my sins, rose from the dead, and now reigns at God's right hand, I know God's word is true. His Holy Spirit has revealed it over and over in the twenty years I have known Him. Look at  Luke 1:39-56.  Mary just was visited by the angel telling her she is expecting a baby... Jesus.  3 9  At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, ( A ) 40  where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth.   41  When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. ( B ) 42  In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, ( C ) and blessed is the child you will bear! 43  But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lo
