Ephesians Week 6

Ephesians 5   5  1  Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children   2  and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. 3  But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.   4  Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.   5  For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. [ a ]   6  Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.   7  Therefore do not be partners with them. 8  For you were once darkness, but now you are light i...

Everyone loves a Cinderella story..even in Baseball?

Who knew that Baseball could have a Cinderella story.  That is what is happening with Atlanta Braves catcher,  #24, Evan Gattis.  Gattis has the baseball build at 6 feet 4 inches and 230 lbs. ...but his talent and God-given muscles were almost thrown away.  He  picked up the nickname El Oso Blanco (the nickname means "The White Bear")while playing in the Venezuelan winter league.   His story seems like it could not be true.  Things started well for Gattis.  Right out of  high school,  he was signed  to play at Texas A&M.  Then, the fall........ as anxiety over the thought of big time college baseball  begin to engulf his baseball dreams.   To cope with the fear and the anger rooted in the pain that came when Gattis' parents divorced when he was 8 years old, he falls into drug and alcohol dependency.   Thankfully, he gets placed into rehab.  At rehab, he  made a discovery.  "When he go...

Whatcha doing?

Whatcha been doing?  It has been almost a week since I blogged.  John-Michael tried to do his MRI without sedation..it didn't go well the first time around.   Thankfully, we went to the Children's Healthcare at Webb Bridge just a few days ago..and they did it!  He was able to get his MRI without sedation.  Dr. Bodyston gave him a good report ..and said we will have a MRI next July to check on the tumors by his spine. We are so thankful to have that behind us. Today is a good day.    Even with the record temperatures in metro Atlanta, we had the blessing of suite seats (air conditioning including).  The Braves won!   We are enjoying the dinner-plate hibiscus by the pond.  I am enjoying my blue-dipped hair (already had pink and purple..it only last a few weeks). I ran my 2nd Peachtree race on the 4th... I was 2 minutes slower than last year..but it was hotter than last year, too!    The Peacht...

Braves Baseball 2012..so far

Image
Regular season record: 10-6 NL East standing: 2 Win percentage: .625   It didn't start pretty.  The Braves lost their first four games...but they went on to play very well after than.  They are currently 10 wins for 6 loses.   ..playing better than 500. Chipper Jones, the Braves' third baseman,  has announced that he will be retiring at the end of this season.  He has been with the Braves for his entire professional baseball career...beginning in 1993.  That is 19 consecutive seasons.   He has a bum knee but still manages to play more than he doesn't!  Enjoy this last season watching Chipper.  Hopefully this will continue to be an up-year for the Braves, despite the naysayers before the season even began! Go, BRAVES!

Baseball Opening Day 2011

Pull out your Braves wear!  Today is the official start of Baseball season!  Baseball wasn't even on the radar before I met Russell.  Slowly, I took more interest in it..simply because he loved baseball.  I wanted to learn about what fascinated him so.    Now, twenty one years later, I have a pretty good handle on baseball and I really enjoy watching the games with my sweet husband.  So, in the next few months, we will see how the Braves do without their main coach, Bobby Cox.  Cox was the coach for the Braves for 25 years...so I have never known Braves Baseball without Bobby Cox.  The new coach has big shoes to fill, as Cox has won 15 division crowns in his career, including 14 in Atlanta that have led to five pennants (1991, 1992, 1995, 1996 and 1999) and one World Championship (1995).   Let see what happens in 2011!  Let's go, Braves. Now...if I can only get Russell to take an interest in birds. :)
