Lessons learned the first 50 years

Image
I hit a milestone. I turned 50 years old. I am thankful that I don't feel 50.   I am thankful for things God has taught me throughout those 50 years. .  I have learned that God loves mercy and when I feel a sense that justice needs to happen over mercy, all I need to do is remember that I am thankful for when God gives me mercy instead of a just punishment.   (Micah 6:8 8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.) ( Luke 6: 36  Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. ) I have learned that hurt people end up hurting people.   When I am able to see that I didn't hurt them but I am bearing the results of that persons hurt inflicted by other people, it helps me forgive whatever hurt they pushed onto me and move on.  (Romans 12 : 18  If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. )  I have learned that anyone who thinks they have God

Krasnorark, Russia

We adopted our baby girl when she was 1. She was in a Siberian orphanage. We know the orphanage workers did all they could for her. In 2001, our daughter joined our biological son at home. Three years later, we would have another biological son. Our daughter is incredibly smart and even though she is completing high school in May, she will also have completed 7 college classes by May.  She is stubborn and charming. She is a hard worker and friendly. She fills the house with music and laughter. When we think of Russia, we are filled with gratitude. Our daughter is such a joy to us. We are so thankful that Russia trusted us to love her.   She is now 17......   No doubt God has great plans for her. We love our baby girl.

What is my purpose in life?

Why are we here?  What is the use? What is a person's purpose in life? We can decide the answers to these questions based on our past experiences and emotions, or on what God says.  As a person who knows Jesus came to earth to pay the penalty for my sins, rose from the dead, and now reigns at God's right hand, I know God's word is true. His Holy Spirit has revealed it over and over in the twenty years I have known Him. Look at  Luke 1:39-56.  Mary just was visited by the angel telling her she is expecting a baby... Jesus.  3 9  At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, ( A ) 40  where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth.   41  When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. ( B ) 42  In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you among women, ( C ) and blessed is the child you will bear! 43  But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lo

Grey hair

In 2017, I decided to make a change ... No more hair dye. I inherited early grey from my dad's family..and my own 19 year old son already has many grey hairs. I tried covering it with dyes, powders, sprays..always chasing that white line. So, I stopped coloring it, and used Madison reed powder to hide the white until it grew out enough that the brown dye could be stripped out and toned to match my true silver/ grey. That happened over the weekend. So, for me, I had so many reasons to stop coloring. I have autoimmune issues that cause me to have pain in my legs. I knew putting 3000 chemicals on my head every 3 weeks could not be helping. I have had too many friends not have the privilege of growing older, so the signs of aging is a blessing and I will not be fearful of those signs. My choice does not mean I condemn your choice. That's the great thing about being adults. We get to choose.
