Lessons learned the first 50 years

Image
I hit a milestone. I turned 50 years old. I am thankful that I don't feel 50.   I am thankful for things God has taught me throughout those 50 years. .  I have learned that God loves mercy and when I feel a sense that justice needs to happen over mercy, all I need to do is remember that I am thankful for when God gives me mercy instead of a just punishment.   (Micah 6:8 8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.) ( Luke 6: 36  Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. ) I have learned that hurt people end up hurting people.   When I am able to see that I didn't hurt them but I am bearing the results of that persons hurt inflicted by other people, it helps me forgive whatever hurt they pushed onto me and move on.  (Romans 12 : 18  If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. )  I have learned that anyone who thinks they have God

Heavenly Grandfather?

Image
“ We want not so much a Father but a grandfather in heaven, a God who said of anything we happened to like doing, ‘What does it matter so long as they are contented?"- C.S. Lewis... Yep, I did it again.  I started a blog with another C.S. Lewis quote.  Yesterday was one of those days that I wished that God said.."as long as they are content"... But, HE knows better.  Even when my heart breaks... He knows better.  Even when I don't understand why my son got an I.V., waited  1 1/2 hours for his MRI and then was told "not to move a muscle" for another hour..which he couldn't do..so his MRI was rescheduled with Sedation, He knows better.   Even when a relative battling alcohol addiction causes embarrassment for himself and others, HE knows better.  Even when there isn't healing where you thought there would be healing, He knows better.   Even when your heart feels like it can't hear of another hurt or neglected child.... or animal, He knows bet

Vulnerable...

Image
Vulnerable- a.  Susceptible to physical or emotional injury. b.  Susceptible to attack: That's how loving feels sometimes. “To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.” ―  C.S. Lewis ,  The Four Loves I think he got it.  In order for love to be real, to not guard your heart in a box and for it to waste away, we must be "susceptible to emotional injury"  .   My husband will make me mad, sad, or glad (suddenly I am Dr. Seuss) .  LOL..   I can avoid the bad (and the good) by checking out... and p

Before and After.. Junk Gypsy style...

Image
We only get family  only channels ...and one show I like to watch is  Junk Gypsy.    This is my real-life version of Junk Gypsy.  In order to try to encourage the kids to play more board games, I made two tables that would house board games at the bottom. I took two existing tables that we had and measured with diameter of each.  Then, I went to Lowe's and had them cut plywood to those dimensions.  Next, John-Michael and Madeline helped me drill pilot holes and ..  attach the rolling casters with wood screws.  Finally, we painted it all out in a soft grey to pull it all together.  John-Michael looks thrilled about the painting.LOL... Here are the after photos of our new game tables.. John-Michael decided he wanted a haircut..so here is his before....before I got the scissors out...  And here is His after..  My oldest son...so did not want to have a haircut..but he sooo needed one..  His before...  Him hiding as we are tryin

A summer's Week of a Mom...

Image
It has been a week since I have blogged..  Life is busy...even in the summer... three kids, many friends... hopping here and there.  I added pink to my hair.. it washes out in a couple of weeks.  I painted a few paintings ..including this "Power Horse" in red as a fundraiser for the rescue where we volunteer.  Alivie, a 5 year old race horse at the rescue, had her intestines removed twice this past month..once due to an obstruction...  and once due to a twist in her colon (a complication from the 1st surgery).  She finally made it back to the rescue. Here Madeline is greeting her as Sam in holding the lead rope.  John-Michael tells her that he has been praying for her and is so glad she is back.  The kids have had friends over... and we went to see Madagascar 3. We really liked it.  I went to see my dad on father's day. Here is his rescue-pitbull, Baby. See her sweet smiling face.   She is about  6 or 7....and is a great dog.   My dad
