Lessons learned the first 50 years

I hit a milestone. I turned 50 years old. I am thankful that I don't feel 50.   I am thankful for things God has taught me throughout those 50 years. .  I have learned that God loves mercy and when I feel a sense that justice needs to happen over mercy, all I need to do is remember that I am thankful for when God gives me mercy instead of a just punishment.   (Micah 6:8 8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.) ( Luke 6: 36  Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. ) I have learned that hurt people end up hurting people.   When I am able to see that I didn't hurt them but I am bearing the results of that persons hurt inflicted by other people, it helps me forgive whatever hurt they pushed onto me and move on.  (Romans 12 : 18  If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. )  I have learned that anyone who thinks they have God

Our Garden June 2012

I am trying to plant things that 1. we can eat  or 2. will attract birds/ butterflies.

So we have sunflowers and hibiscus near the pond

We have daylilies and lantana.  The lantana is to the right and has mulitiple small flowers. ...the hummingbirds just love it.
Lantana comes in many colors. I have it in pink, red, yellow, and orange.

This Phoebe is looking for bugs...

To the right ..you can see small fencing... this is one of my vegetable garden areas.  We just harvested beans and now we planted bell peppers and sunflower seeds.  ..something for us ..and something for the birds.
And then ..there are flowers that are for both of us  ...  ..I love the look of black-eyed susans (above)... and the birds love to eat the seeds in the center.  We harvested many raspberries ... here is what is left (below)..

And we have fruit to come..here are some of our grapes that need to get a little bigger.. (come on, rain)....

Here are my tomato plants..

Olivie is checking them out...

We have some blueberries ..that aren't quite blue yet..

I even grow my own sweetner (Stevia)... in the photo....  above....

I have unusual plants..like this hibiscus that has weird looking leaves...

Olivie and Dirk (my other dog)... like to watch from the bridge over the pond...

The view of our front yard ..from our front door...

See Olivie.... right in the middle of the window...

Our home..

Flowers in the front flower bed....   There are so many blackeyed- Susans here.  In the early fall, we will get flocks of migrating birds ...which will land in them to devour the seeds in the center of the flowers.  Hopefully I will be able to catch a photo of them as well.
