Ephesians Week 6

Ephesians 5   5  1  Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children   2  and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. 3  But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.   4  Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.   5  For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. [ a ]   6  Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.   7  Therefore do not be partners with them. 8  For you were once darkness, but now you are light i...

Christmas Traditions and Christmas Memories

Image
Here is one of my favorite picture. Madeline Virginia is being loved on by her name sake, Maxine Virginia (Russell's grandmother).   Grand-mama had the same outgoing personality that Madeline has.  Both are fun-loving, talkative, friendly, bubbly personalities. So, we have certain foods that we only eat at Christmas time: sausage balls, homemade fudge, and homemade peanut butter/ chocolate candies. Here is Maxine Virginia's fudge recipe...in her own writing. Teddy Bears, lights and candy wrapped around the banister  I just painted the stairs in rainbow colors... LOVE IT! Now, we are busy decorating for Christmas.  This year, I made a pallet sign (O Come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord) to display over our mantle..and try to make the house look as cheerful as possible.   Praising Him for His abundant blessings...

Rayman Rabbids Cake- 1/2 Birthday celebration

Image
At a certain age... I suppose 18 or so... half-birthdays are no longer as important to you as when you are young.  Right now, the kids love having their 1/2 birthdays celebrated.  We don't do much. We tell them "Happy half-birthday!"... and they are allowed to choose what we have for dinner (within reason... no  super expensive choices .. like crab legs or sushi).  And, they do get to have a  cake.   John-Michael is 8 1/2 today. I haven't had any of my children ask for a character-cake in quite some time...until last night.  We were out very late watching the laser light show at Stone Mountain Park.  A few hours before... John-Michael springs on me that he wants a Rayman Rabbids cake for his half-birthday.  Now, I have church in the morning and knew I wouldn't get home before midnight last night... not much time to figure our how to make that kind of cake.  So, like most things...I just went for it.   I bought Twinkies ...pretty...

Comfort Food-Shepherd's Pie

Image
When I need to make a lot of yummy food, I tend to make Shepherd's pie (gluten free for our family). Here is the recipe. It takes awhile but it is so worth it. 1. 3 pound chuck roast is cooked in a crock pot with 1 cup of water/ of beef broth, 1 can of cream of mushroom soup, one sweet onion (diced), 1/2 clove of garlic, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of pepper. I cook it on low for 12 hours. Once it is cooked, pull apart and set aside to be used in the shepherd's pie. 2. Take Bisquick, gluten free B isquick or, gluten free flour mix and follow the directions to make "drop biscuits" according to the package. That mixture goes into the bottom of a very, large baking pan. Bake until the biscuit bottom is cooked. 3. Make your favorite mashed potatoes , substituting chicken broth instead of milk if you need to avoid the milk. 4. Add a layer of mashed potatoes on top of the biscuit bottom. Then, add a 1/4 inch layer of roast/sauce made from the roast. Next, top t...
