Ephesians Week 6

Ephesians 5   5  1  Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children   2  and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. 3  But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.   4  Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.   5  For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. [ a ]   6  Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.   7  Therefore do not be partners with them. 8  For you were once darkness, but now you are light i...

Life of an average American Mom (entering summer)

Lots of Driving in the car .. to visit with friends.. Movies in the movie theater..... Continuing Horse rescue work (Horse Back) and painting  Painting for others..and for myself.. This one is for me.. experiments... Do horses like bananas?  Lady Jane-No.   Sweetie- YES! Nephews here for a week...so 5 kids to care for! Way different than 3.  I am up to running 12 + miles each week.  Feels great... no sign of the broken bone in my leg.   God has been gentling teaching me new things... really sitting in Philippians 3.       12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. 13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let those of us wh...

Sweet surprises...

Image
The first surprise is a BABY!  We were at the rescue helping with feed February 13th.  We couldn't find our donkey, Annabelle...and she never, ever misses a feed.  I asked Tom, one of the long-time volunteers to look around the 22 acres to see if he could see Annabelle.   Less than 5 minutes later, a commotion ...   Annabelle, who NO ONE knew was pregnant, gave birth to Lilly.  What a sweet, sweet surprise! Apparently, my running partner knows how hard 6 months of no running has been for me.  So, she surprised me with a Swedish massage.   It hurt... but my foot didn't have the flexibility it needed in order to make running happen again.  So, one hour later, and a few tears, my foot is so much more flexible.  I took the soft cast off three weeks ago.  I have been seeing the Physical therapist for  2 weeks.   Running should resume soon!  Thank you, friend!  I am so thankful!

Enthusiasm for Exercising

Image
Now, this is just a 30 seconds video.  In it...the little Boston Terrier bounces himself off this ball and tumbles (I really don't think that is what he intended to do).  He clearly loves this ball..and loves this type of exercise. After 3 1/2 years of running, I have my first injury.  A stress fracture in my left foot... Hurts like a dog. :) (Pun intended).  Anyway, I am going to have to find a new exercise to be excited/ enthusiastic about for awhile... One that doesn't require much of my left leg.  I guess Yoga???  Any other suggestions...

Whatcha doing?

Image
Whatcha been doing?  It has been almost a week since I blogged.  John-Michael tried to do his MRI without sedation..it didn't go well the first time around.   Thankfully, we went to the Children's Healthcare at Webb Bridge just a few days ago..and they did it!  He was able to get his MRI without sedation.  Dr. Bodyston gave him a good report ..and said we will have a MRI next July to check on the tumors by his spine. We are so thankful to have that behind us. Today is a good day.    Even with the record temperatures in metro Atlanta, we had the blessing of suite seats (air conditioning including).  The Braves won!   We are enjoying the dinner-plate hibiscus by the pond.  I am enjoying my blue-dipped hair (already had pink and purple..it only last a few weeks). I ran my 2nd Peachtree race on the 4th... I was 2 minutes slower than last year..but it was hotter than last year, too!    The Peacht...

2012 Peachtree Road Race

Image
Did you know that the   Peachtree Road Race is the largest 10K in the world ?    This year is the   43rd time that this race has been organized.    In so doing, the Peachtree Road Race has become a Fourth of July tradition for thousands of people throughout the metro Atlanta area and surrounding areas.   The 6.2 miles of the AJC Peachtree Road Race takes   its participants from the streets of Buckhead to the corners of Midtown,   while finishing in Atlanta's Piedmont Park.    My favorite part is running through the water mists that are set up every mile of the six miles.   It is HOT in July in Georgia.   ...so we really need those mists.   The only problem... wet socks/ wet shoes      can cause blisters.     Another thing I enjoyed last year was seeing families run it together, seeing people run it in costumes,   and seeing some soldiers run it.   And...it   is so f...

Before My after picture is hysterical...look like I either ran 13 miles or had 5 drinks. LOL....  Now, where is my gluten-free coconut cake! Happy Thanksgiving!

Update on Erythema Nodosum

I am down to two "hot spots " of Erthema Nodosum, but the swelling in my left leg bugs me. I have these "kankles" that I only had during my pregnancies. I went to  the regular doctor.  She ran all kinds of blood tests, but they all came back normal.   I had another naturopath look at me.  She told me to try giving up all grains but brown rice (no wheat, no oats, no corn, no spelt, etc).  I am still having no coffee.  I just wish I knew what was causing the erthema nodosum.  The first time I had it was when I had Fifths Disease ( a virus I caught from my kids) back in July 2010. I was told to keep running as it should help me get over  this  bout more quickly.  I ran 6 miles today.  Who knows how bad the lumps would be if I weren't doing all of these things. I can't worry about it. I know that doesn't help anything. Matthew 6 Do Not Worry 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink;...

about Schnoodles...

Image
It looks like I am choking him..lol..but I am just trying to get him to say "cheese" One of my friends, who will go unnamed (smile)..., bought chickens and guinea fowl..and THEN, got two bird dogs.  You can imagine that her feathered friends didn't last long. We are suppose to research the kind of pet we want..to match our desires and needs.  I did not do this well myself 8 years ago... So, 8 years ago we bought home a schnoodle ..it sounds like some weird Chinese dish, but it is actually a 22 lb pound mousing machine.  Dirk, our schnoodle, is a schnauzer -poodle.  He is super friendly and great with the kids.   He doesn't shed. He is great for kids with allergies.. Bonus.. He is small but not too small...., however... he likes to kill furry things... EVEN CUTE furry things.  In the last few years, I have taken a couple of chipmunks to Dr. Orr (our local vet) so he could sew them back up.  I have also requested that my husband bury a few that...
