Ephesians Week 6

Ephesians 5   5  1  Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children   2  and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. 3  But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.   4  Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.   5  For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. [ a ]   6  Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.   7  Therefore do not be partners with them. 8  For you were once darkness, but now you are light i...

Some of my Favorite photos of 2017

Our 3 kids, John-Michael, Madeline, and Noah...... We are blessed to be their parents.  https://inhonoroftheking.blogspot.com/2008/11/ I started this blog nearly 10 years ago, because I want my children..and others to know the LORD and to know what HE has shown me in life and in His Word.   Time flies....

Does God work all things for good?

Image
He promises to always be good to me, for God is always good!  Promises about the Love of God - But God demonstrates His own Love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Rom.5:8) J The goodness of God is found throughout the Bible.  His goodness is a promise we, His children, can stand upon. Psalm 27: 13- 14 13 I remain confident of this:  I will see the goodness of the  Lord    in the land of the living. 14 Wait for the  Lord ; be strong and take heart   and wait for the  Lord .        Land of the living-  enjoy the tokens of the divine favor here upon the earth. The prophet Jeremiah witnessed unthinkable horrors when the Babylonians invaded Jerusalem in 586 BC. Solomon’s temple was reduced to rubble.  With its destruction, the people loss their place of worship as well as the center of the Jewish community. ...

Purpose keeps you young

Image
The older I get ... the more my gratitude grows for those older than me who keep young by living out a purpose.  Think about it!  A thousand years ago, the typical lifespan was 24 years of age.  A child that was born 100 years ago lived to be 50.   A child born today can expect to live to 80.   Why?  Why is this generation living longer than any other generation?  Is it to just fish through retirement?  To walk the beaches in Florida?  Is it to check out on others before you "check out"?   Of course NOT!    Psalm 92: 14 tells us that we shall "still bear fruit in old age".    Fruit... that's our purpose.  Purpose keeps you young.   I am thankful for the older people in my life who look for ways to bear fruits of   love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,   gentleness, self-control.    I am thankful for my dad who doesn't let  the chronic  pain ...

Frozen's Let It Go — A Mom Parody

Being a mom is so fun... but being a mom is so hard.   Grab the laughs where you can.  Focus on "this too shall pass. "   Enjoy the day.

Transitions

Image
Turning 40 was hard for me.  Not because I think 40 is "Old"... but it was a transition.  I had the sneaking feeling that I had to be error free, as errors were for those under 40. LOL...       Now, another transition.   I have been a teacher off and on  (public school and private school) for the last 23 years.    Two days ago was my last day as a paid teacher.   My youngest child has dyslexia and dysgraphia ...and needs me to be his full time teacher, which means I can't leave to teach other children.  A transition.  A new calling. My 2nd class  as a public school teacher..  my first class was 1991- 1992 at Tinsley Elementary, Bibb. co., GA My last class as a teacher   (2013-2014   1st and 2nd grade combo)  I hope there will be more time for painting.   I have been a paid artist for 15 years and the more I have time to paint...the easier it is for me.  Here are a couple I finis...

March Madness

Image
Yep... March Madness and I don't mean basketball...  Here are the highlights...   I gave my testimony at The Vine while teaching a group of women to paint....  Super fun night. I finished several paintings for clients... Here are a few. Noah and John Michael both got their braces off. :) Beautiful smiles! Noah had knee surgery to put a new ligament  into his knee and to shave the rough cartilage.   Now... he has lots of physical therapy. Just because Life wasn't CRAZY enough... I rescued a chihuahua from going to animal control and tried to foster him while he received his vet care (neutering/ shots).   He is 1 -2 years old... and in true Chihuahua manner...has a sassy little attitude.   My dogs want to eat him... but he loves dogs.    We are looking for a foster/adoptive mom.     We are reading through the Bible... on Nehemiah and Exodus right now.   There is so much to process. ... we are learn...

Lessons in 2013

Image
I am so thankful for the things God has taught me in 2013.  The most important thing I have learned is you can not fully understand the struggles of other people.  I can't fully understand losing a spouse, as thankfully, I have not.  I can't fully understand the lost of a child; I have lost two babies in utero, but haven't parented and then lost a child.   I can't fully understand having a difficult spouse, because Russell is gracious and kind to me... most of the time ( love you, honey).... just like I am, most of the time.  No one will fully know how difficult it is to raise a child who didn't have his/her basic needs met during the infant years...unless you also have a child like this.  No one will fully know how difficult it is to raise a child who has a chronic illness...unless you also have a child like this. I have learned to fully get that "Hurt People"'  hurt people.    But, that God is the ONLY healer.   God is the only one ...

Merry Christmas from my family to yours.

Duck Dynasty- Their Goose is Cooked?

Image
Are there perfect people on earth, people that don't mess up, hurt others, regret words, wish they said things differently?  No, we are all sinners, sinners who still mess up... who still think selfishly at times, who still struggle to put ourselves aside and think of others first. I think our actions, the way we display love, is the only way they will see Christ.    Our call is that of a peacemaker,  building peace within the church and making peace with those outside of it. Jen Hatmaker stated it this way:   We should refuse to contribute to someone’s pain by speaking about them abstractedly, distantly, as if they aren’t real human beings whose lives bear actual repercussions of our casual public conversations. The sterile public sphere outside of the protective confines of relationships is not a safe place for such weighty discussions, and we should not add to the pile of condescending, degrading comments about real human people. These precious, fragile co...

Duck Dynasty- or the Drunk Dynasty??

Image
So did you see today's news? Since Duck Dynasty, which is a company that sells duck calls (who happens to be believers with a "reality TV show"), has now decided to sell and market a brand of wine, Family Ministries has dropped them as a speaker at their conference.  Why?  They said that they didn't want people that drink wine to speak because they want the attending teens of this conference to be non-drinkers.   The full article can be read here.  .http://www.tricities.com/news/local/article_bfd2b520-4b3f-11e3-ac7e-0019bb30f31a.html.                but here is one quote:   Our greatest responsibility is to the young people we serve. Therefore, we feel that in light of the recent news that the stars of the show ‘Duck Dynasty’ are partnering with Trinchero Family Estates to launch Duck Commander Wines, to continue with this event would send mixed messages t...
