Lessons learned the first 50 years

I hit a milestone. I turned 50 years old. I am thankful that I don't feel 50.   I am thankful for things God has taught me throughout those 50 years. .  I have learned that God loves mercy and when I feel a sense that justice needs to happen over mercy, all I need to do is remember that I am thankful for when God gives me mercy instead of a just punishment.   (Micah 6:8 8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.) ( Luke 6: 36  Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. ) I have learned that hurt people end up hurting people.   When I am able to see that I didn't hurt them but I am bearing the results of that persons hurt inflicted by other people, it helps me forgive whatever hurt they pushed onto me and move on.  (Romans 12 : 18  If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. )  I have learned that anyone who thinks they have God

Lessons in 2013

I am so thankful for the things God has taught me in 2013.  The most important thing I have learned is you can not fully understand the struggles of other people.  I can't fully understand losing a spouse, as thankfully, I have not.  I can't fully understand the lost of a child; I have lost two babies in utero, but haven't parented and then lost a child.   I can't fully understand having a difficult spouse, because Russell is gracious and kind to me... most of the time ( love you, honey).... just like I am, most of the time.  No one will fully know how difficult it is to raise a child who didn't have his/her basic needs met during the infant years...unless you also have a child like this.  No one will fully know how difficult it is to raise a child who has a chronic illness...unless you also have a child like this.

I have learned to fully get that "Hurt People"'  hurt people.    But, that God is the ONLY healer.   God is the only one who FULLY knows us and yet, HE loves us.  I have learned to love people... point them to the truth... but mostly love them, because I can't fully know their story.    If you haven't seen the movie, Frozen, go see it!  It tells the dangers of a frozen heart.    A must see!  Loving people is hard, but we are commanded to do so.
Reach out... reach out again.   Forgive... forgive again...  Love..don't stop..   Happy 2014!

1 John 4:7-10

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

John 13:34-35

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

1 Peter 4:8

Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.
