Ephesians Week 6

Ephesians 5   5  1  Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children   2  and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. 3  But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.   4  Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.   5  For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. [ a ]   6  Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.   7  Therefore do not be partners with them. 8  For you were once darkness, but now you are light i...

Review of Whispers of Hope/ Devotional Prayer book by Beth Moore (Book Give away)

Image
I imagine that I have blogged about Beth Moore a lot when her publishing company contacts me and asks me to review and give away one of her books.   When they asked if I would, even though I have a plate that more than overflows, I said yes.  Why?   Because  Beth Moore helped me fall in love with God's word. I thought I knew who God was and I thought I knew who I was in Christ, but it wasn't until I started reading His word for myself that I truly understood. She has such a passion for others to develop a passion for loving His word and reading it daily.  Why?   For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.   Hebrews 4:12    All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,   17  that  the m...

Grace? Law? (Beth Moore Simulcast 2013)

“The Word we study has to be the Word we pray. My personal experience of the relentless tenderness of God came not from exegetes, theologians, and spiritual writers, but from sitting still in the presence of the living Word and beseeching Him to help me understand with my head and heart His written Word. Sheer scholarship alone cannot reveal to us the gospel of grace. We must never allow the authority of books, institutions, or leaders to replace the authority of *knowing* Jesus Christ personally and directly. When the religious views of others interpose between us and the primary experience of Jesus as the Christ, we become unconvicted and unpersuasive travel agents handing out brochures to places we have never visited.” ― Brennan Manning, The Ragamuffin Gospel: Good News for the Bedraggled, Beat-Up, and Burnt Out Grace… it is all grace.   We say it often, but do we really understand what living under grace means?   This is what Beth Moore’s simulcast was about. ...

Broken Cisterns

Image
I have been working on a Bible study by Beth Moore called Breaking Free.  It is a Bible study similar to Nancy Leigh DeMoss, Lies Women Believe.  It is focused on using Scripture to combat the lies of our own minds or the lies of the enemy.  We are breaking free of bad habits, false beliefs, and bad attitudes.    I think I have completed most of Beth Moore's Bible Studies and she does an excellent job of helping you fall in  love with God's word.  She does an excellent job of showing you the power of His word to break strongholds.   Her studies are hard and require a lot of homework, but when you fall in love with His word, you don't mind that so much. Yesterday she had us read a familiar story, the Samaritan woman at the well. John 4:1-18)/ 9  The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans. [ a ] ) 10  Jesus a...

Part 2 Beth Moore Simulcast Sept 15- 2 Kings 4

Image
Ok.... the 2nd part of the Simulcast was equally as good as the first.  Remember, it was about 2 women: 1. One who KNEW she had a huge need  2. One who did NOT know she had a huge need. You can read part 1 here. http://inhonoroftheking.blogspot.com/2012/09/grounded-literally-and-spiritually.html Part 2 focused on 2 Kings 4 The Shunammite’s Son Restored to Life  (Red is scripture/ black is Beth Moore's notes). 8 One day Elisha went to Shunem. And a well-to-do woman was there, who urged him to stay for a meal. So whenever he came by, he stopped there to eat. 9 She said to her husband, “I know that this man who often comes our way is a holy man of God. 10 Let’s make a small room on the roof and put in it a bed and a table, a chair and a lamp for him. Then he can stay there whenever he comes to us.” 11 One day when Elisha came, he went up to his room and lay down there. 12 He said to his servant Gehazi, “Call the Shunammite.” So he called her, and she stood b...

Grounded (literally... and spiritually)..

Image
I am grounded.  Grounded because I can not run... maybe for as long as 6 months.  I saw an orthopedist and she stated that the fracture in my leg is much worse than the ER doctor thought.  I now have a boot I have to wear... all the time except when I am asleep.    I have to wear this boot and I was told to use crutches, but I was getting bruised ribs from using those. So, my husband rented a scooter that  saves my ribs and is just easier to get around.   That makes life so much easier... cooking, cleaning, living.... I went from this... (below)...    To this (scooter).... I have been able to use it to attend church, to go shopping, and even work in the horse-barn.   One of my friends has threatened to get me a teletubby horn. :)    I knew I couldn't do the crutches for 5 more weeks...or more.     So I am grounded... no running until the doctor tells me I can.   All I can ...
