Lessons learned the first 50 years

I hit a milestone. I turned 50 years old. I am thankful that I don't feel 50.   I am thankful for things God has taught me throughout those 50 years. .  I have learned that God loves mercy and when I feel a sense that justice needs to happen over mercy, all I need to do is remember that I am thankful for when God gives me mercy instead of a just punishment.   (Micah 6:8 8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.) ( Luke 6: 36  Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. ) I have learned that hurt people end up hurting people.   When I am able to see that I didn't hurt them but I am bearing the results of that persons hurt inflicted by other people, it helps me forgive whatever hurt they pushed onto me and move on.  (Romans 12 : 18  If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. )  I have learned that anyone who thinks they have God

Moving Earl!

We went to the horse rescue to help today.  John-Michael was happy until it was time to lead the horses in for the night.  Noah and I were busy getting the first 6 or so horses in...that I didn't notice he was sitting all scrunched up by the barn door.  I asked him what was wrong...and he said, "I just need some alone time"... I asked him again... ten minutes later...why he was said.  He said that he didn't want to talk about it, but I wouldn't give in.  Finally, he told me that one of his siblings told him, "Maybe in four or five years, you will be big enough to lead in Pebbles (the smallest goat there)"....  Obviously, a mean thing to say to your 8 year old brother.   When Sam( one of the master-volunteers)   heard John-MIchael say this he said, "Let's go get Earl".    Earl is a one year old mule (half-horse/ half donkey).  He is sweet, but...he is a mule.   Harry Truman, our 33rd president, said, "My  favorite animal is the mule. He has more horse sense than a horse. He knows when to stop eating and he knows when to stop working"..  More common are the sayings: She is nosier than a mule in a tin barn.   He is stubborn as a mule...  That being said...we placed a halter and attached a lead road and John-Michael led that mule around for 10-15 minutes. He said that leading Earl around was like playing tug-of-war.   However, he did it!  I am so proud of him!
