Lessons learned the first 50 years

I hit a milestone. I turned 50 years old. I am thankful that I don't feel 50.   I am thankful for things God has taught me throughout those 50 years. .  I have learned that God loves mercy and when I feel a sense that justice needs to happen over mercy, all I need to do is remember that I am thankful for when God gives me mercy instead of a just punishment.   (Micah 6:8 8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.) ( Luke 6: 36  Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. ) I have learned that hurt people end up hurting people.   When I am able to see that I didn't hurt them but I am bearing the results of that persons hurt inflicted by other people, it helps me forgive whatever hurt they pushed onto me and move on.  (Romans 12 : 18  If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. )  I have learned that anyone who thinks they have God

Laura Story- The Amazing Worship leader at the Women's Retreat...

Laura Story is our music minister at our church, Perimeter. She is an amazing, beautiful lady.  Sometimes, for me, it is hard to worship. It hurts so much at times, I just feel I can't....I struggle to worship in the midst of tears.  (I didn't say that was godly or right..just truthful).     She said it so well... we falsely believe that God should and Must always heal because ...well, God is loving...and God is all powerful. ..and since He is both loving and powerful, of course healing is the right answer.  Well, she addresses how we can't fathom God's ways, but we can trust in His love...even when it feels like He is holding back or that He isn't giving us His best.  Remember, our emotions will lie.  That is why we must know His word and take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, especially..... when we doubt..when our emotions get the better of us.

Laura led us in amazing worship and I am so glad she was a huge part of the retreat!

  1. Beautiful song! I heard Laura Story speak briefly on the radio about the circumstances that led up to her writing this song, and was amazed. I think we tend to think that the ones God chose to write His Word lived in ivory towers rather than experiencing pain and suffering. We get the same idea about song writers--that they write these songs to comfort us even if they don't know the pain personally, when in fact the song lyrics are so often part of their own stories.

Thank you for posting this. I'll pray for you and your family.

  2. Amy... Laura and her husband are excited..they are expecting their first child.

Yes, God is uses all of us. I don't know anyone that has a pain free life. I know that He keeps me dependent on him. ... especially in the super hard times.

Thank you for praying for us..
