Lessons learned the first 50 years

I hit a milestone. I turned 50 years old. I am thankful that I don't feel 50.   I am thankful for things God has taught me throughout those 50 years. .  I have learned that God loves mercy and when I feel a sense that justice needs to happen over mercy, all I need to do is remember that I am thankful for when God gives me mercy instead of a just punishment.   (Micah 6:8 8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.) ( Luke 6: 36  Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. ) I have learned that hurt people end up hurting people.   When I am able to see that I didn't hurt them but I am bearing the results of that persons hurt inflicted by other people, it helps me forgive whatever hurt they pushed onto me and move on.  (Romans 12 : 18  If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. )  I have learned that anyone who thinks they have God

Just need to know you are there...

High Maintenance?  Maybe... but I think everyone would say that they need to know someone cares when we are going through a hard time or just a plain scary time.  In this video clip, a husky is nervous  about a car ride.... perhaps it is the driver..LOL.. or just being in any car..  Either way, the dog is only calmed when she holds "hands" with her owner.  So, who do you have in your life that you can reach out to... send a note..an email... a phone call... or even just reach over and give them the old "hand squeeze".  (You will only get that if you are a church-goer.. LOL)... Let people know you care.   ..one of the greatest callings. John 13:34 A new commandment I give you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you are to love one another. John 13:35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. John 15:12 This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.

Trudy ..update.. Greener pastures

Tomorrow, Trudy is going into her new pasture. Partial Albino Robin's babies

Baby Robin  I watched as the mama albino Robin went and fed one of her babies that fledged.   She scurried to the branch...and there he was... tiny puff ball.   I am not certain if he will keep the white that his mother has.  But, didn't she do a good job. There were four furry balls in the nest yesterday... I am certain they are all in the trees today.  I am thankful to see this one.  She waits on my neighbor's roof to go see her baby in the tree..... The daddy was feeding the baby as well. My garden is starting to bloom.  I even harvested by first bit of food, a mild pepper.   Only if it was big enough for a horse.....

Calm through the Storm...

Braves Baseball 2012..so far

Regular season record: 10-6 NL East standing: 2 Win percentage: .625   It didn't start pretty.  The Braves lost their first four games...but they went on to play very well after than.  They are currently 10 wins for 6 loses.   ..playing better than 500. Chipper Jones, the Braves' third baseman,  has announced that he will be retiring at the end of this season.  He has been with the Braves for his entire professional baseball career...beginning in 1993.  That is 19 consecutive seasons.   He has a bum knee but still manages to play more than he doesn't!  Enjoy this last season watching Chipper.  Hopefully this will continue to be an up-year for the Braves, despite the naysayers before the season even began! Go, BRAVES!  

A Grey issue... news or no news...

God reaffirms over and over to my heart...MY heart...that the media's relentless proclamation of bad news isn't good for ME.   I know that I don't need to check Fox News morning, lunch, and evening to know the latest... but I need to go to the Good News of the gospel so I will steadfastly think about what He would have me think about...be ready for what He knows is coming...and be prepared for the good ...and the not so good.   Going to Fox News, CNN, AJC,...etc.. just leaves me depressed, saddened, and fearful I haven't ever seen a verse that says don't watch the news, but these verses speak to me.  Romans 16:19  I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil. Feeling like Pâté

Pâté ( French pronunciation: [pɑte] ; UK: /ˈpæteɪ/ , US: /pɑˈteɪ/ ) is a mixture of cooked ground meat and fat minced into a spreadable paste. Trust has always been an issue for me.  ...  My distrust of God's plan and love for me used to be strong.  I am so much better about knowing God's word and knowing His character that when daily life isn't so daily... or just isn't easy... I am usually..  able to quickly state the truth (He is slow to anger/ abounding in love)..and go on with life.  This week..it has been much more difficult.  I discovered John-Michael has two fibromas on his arm and two pecan sized fibromas by or on his spine.  The pea-sized ones on his back are now gumball sized.  John-Michael is growing...and with his body makes growth hormone...this happens.   His next Mri isn't until June.  I refuse to loose my joy and waste my time worrying.  It isn't good for John-Michael, me, or anyone else in my family. Easter Traditions

 When we married 22 years ago, and had our first child over 13 years ago, we had to figure out how we wanted to celebrate holidays.  We decided that we wanted to make our own traditions...new traditions.    One of them... Scavenger hunt for their Easter Baskets.  They had to find a clue...that led to another clue... that led to another clue... that  led to another clue...and so on..  The final clue led to their Easter Baskets.   Madeline received a Chocolate bunny, a Black Beauty Horse Book, a stuffed animal, a journal,  stickers... ..   Noah received a Chocolate bunny,  $15 of Itunes music,  Pez candy, a box of Chocolates, spicy snacks...    John-Michael received a Chocolate bunny, a stuffed animal, Might Beans,  and a puzzle...  I think they enjoy the hunt as much as they enjoy the goodies.   The Joy that Easter brings... The Joy that we know our savior lives...

University of Georgia's Vet Deparment..open house..

We just got back from UGA's Annual Vet Department open house. There was so much to see.  Horses, Zebras, Llamas, dogs, K9 units, ....   I think their favorite part was when the little ones were able to take their stuffed animals in for surgery... to repair rips and get stitches...   Once student drew the bones of a horse onto this horses fur...    They thought it was especially cool to see a man show the hawks and falcons and talk about hunting with birds (falconry) ..    There was a farrier working on  horse's feet.   There were dogs trained in duck herding and sheep herding... both were demonstrated.  There were also K9 units with police officers that talked about their work and the relationship they have with their dogs...  It is a really nice thing that UGA do for the future veterinarians of America.

Free or nearly free things to do in Metro Atlanta 2012

It is spring break..  we have enjoyed swimming in our neighborhood's heated pool, hanging out with the horses,  visiting with friends.... and NOT doing school work.  With spring break... our minds are starting to drift to summer thoughts. One of the many things I love about living in Metro Atlanta are the free or almost free things to do in the Metro Atlanta area during the spring and summer....   Many of the movie theaters show free movies and have  $1 boxes of popcorn.  Many of the surrounding cities have free summer concerts.   Some of these events are starting to be posted.  Here are a few I have found. so far... I am sure this list will grow and grow......
