Lessons learned the first 50 years

I hit a milestone. I turned 50 years old. I am thankful that I don't feel 50.   I am thankful for things God has taught me throughout those 50 years. .  I have learned that God loves mercy and when I feel a sense that justice needs to happen over mercy, all I need to do is remember that I am thankful for when God gives me mercy instead of a just punishment.   (Micah 6:8 8 He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.) ( Luke 6: 36  Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. ) I have learned that hurt people end up hurting people.   When I am able to see that I didn't hurt them but I am bearing the results of that persons hurt inflicted by other people, it helps me forgive whatever hurt they pushed onto me and move on.  (Romans 12 : 18  If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. )  I have learned that anyone who thinks they have God

A summer's Week of a Mom...

It has been a week since I have blogged..  Life is busy...even in the summer... three kids, many friends... hopping here and there.  I added pink to my hair.. it washes out in a couple of weeks.

I painted a few paintings ..including this "Power Horse" in red as a fundraiser for the rescue where we volunteer.

Alivie, a 5 year old race horse at the rescue, had her intestines removed twice this past month..once due to an obstruction...  and once due to a twist in her colon (a complication from the 1st surgery).  She finally made it back to the rescue. Here Madeline is greeting her as Sam in holding the lead rope.
John-Michael tells her that he has been praying for her and is so glad she is back.

The kids have had friends over... and we went to see Madagascar 3. We really liked it.

I went to see my dad on father's day. Here is his rescue-pitbull, Baby.
See her sweet smiling face.   She is about  6 or 7....and is a great dog.

My dad and I picked blueberries at his friend's house.. Here he is helping get 18 pints. :) YUM!

 There
was a horse there... no longer wanted...but being cared for.. . We are going to try to get her to the rescue ..to be adopted to someone that has the time to work with her.

Noah went to camp All America at Perimeter..and Madeline and John-Michael went to half-day camp at North Lanier!  They all were hot, tired, but so excited.

Camp...gave me more time to paint....  I did a purple power horse... Luke (top right)...and 34 year old Sweetie (bottom center)..who mothers all the foals that come into the rescue.

We  had laughs... chipmunk stuffing his face with
sunflower seeds from my bird feeder...   john-Michael's "smiley" face hair for crazy hair day at camp...

We have watched Alivie get stronger.. and see Save The Horses in a local magazine.

With the laughs come trials..   People broken.  Hurt people hurting people.   Broken bodies... broken relationships...  It is all part of living in this world.    John-Michael has his MRI this Thursday to make sure all tumors are stable and no new tumors are growing...   In all of these trials we have to trust....

Trust means to me resting in God's character and in His word..no matter what situation or circumstance we are in or will be in. He says in Ephesians 1: 17- 23 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the Riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasureable greatness of HIs power toward US who believe, according to the working of His great might that He worked in Christ when he raised Him from the dead and seated Him at his right hand in the heavenly places..for above all rule and authority and power and dominion..and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And He put all things under His feet and gave Him as head over all things to the church which is the body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

Those verses tell me that We have a JOYFUL expectation of future fulfillment. That I am RICH in His inheritance. It tells me  that the VERY POWER that raised Christ is working on our BEHALF! And..in verse 22 I see that He put "ALL THINGS under His feet"... that means everything that comes into our lives is under Christ's power..including the good , the bad, the past and the future. If I know His Character is LOVE, MERCY, and Grace... that is good enough for me to trust.
