Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not

A Grey issue... news or no news...

God reaffirms over and over to my heart...MY heart...that the media's relentless proclamation of bad news isn't good for ME.   I know that I don't need to check Fox News morning, lunch, and evening to know the latest... but I need to go to the Good News of the gospel so I will steadfastly think about what He would have me think about...be ready for what He knows is coming...and be prepared for the good ...and the not so good.   Going to Fox News, CNN, AJC,...etc.. just leaves me depressed, saddened, and fearful

I haven't ever seen a verse that says don't watch the news, but these verses speak to me. 

Romans 16:19  I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil.

Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.

When I have gone..offline... what happens?  My husband tells me the news that I probably need to know to be a well informed citizen..and I don't waste lots of time or dwell on what isn't right, pure or lovely.   I know we live in a broken world and I constantly try to repair the broken people and relationships around me.  It gets to be overwhelming when I try to heal the world.   Isn't that God's job anyway?  Remember, I don't need my junior-God pin.  I think He has it all covered. LOL.... What about you?  How do you deal with the news media?

Psalm 46
1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.

  1. I think God wired me to avoid every detail of the news. Like you, I hear terrible stories and cry, or find myself thinking of them at night. The task of giving sad stories, to which I have no control over, over to God can be challenging, so I prefer to glean a little - if I have the time... which is seldom at this season of my life. :)
