Ephesians 2- Part 2

Study and learn. Be changed.  Ephesians 2 Made Alive in Christ 1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not

"The Vow"..taking our Vows seriously..

Did you know that "The Vow"  ...the movie that was just released this weekend...just in time for Valentine's Day is based on the true story???   The story of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter.

Kim and Krickitt Carpenter never expected their vows to be tested so early.  Yet ...just 2 months after their wedding, a car accident left Krickett with a traumatic head injury and in a coma.   Several long  weeks later,  she woke up and her rehabilitation began.   Tragically, Krickitt had no memory of her husband. The previous 18 months when they had met, fallen in love, and been married were completely erased.    Vanished!    Kim and Krickitt had to start all over again with the added stress of physical rehabilitation, mounting medical bills and amnesia against them.

The Carpenters are eager to share their story of how, against enormous odds, they stuck together, fell in love again, and kept the marriage vows they'd made to each other. They also share their Christian faith, and how it sustained them through their most difficult times.

These amazing...yet  true events inspired the February 2012 movie starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum, The Vow... .

Here is a clip of Kim and Krickett from a few years ago...

Update for 2012

Here is the Vow's trailer

Our pastor told us today : "Love is a committment based on the will of God..undergirred by emotions"
Each spouse needs to model 2 Peter 1:5-8 to each other.  If we each had more faith, moral excellence, knowledge, self-control, perserverance, godliness, brotherly love, and Kindness... we would be able to keep our vows.
2 Peter 1:5-8 5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.

We tried to go see this movie last night...but it was in the teen's...just way to cold... I hope we will have warmer weather..so we can catch this movie this week...  Keep fighting for your vows!
