Ephesians Week 6

Ephesians 5   5  1  Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children   2  and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. 3  But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.   4  Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.   5  For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. [ a ]   6  Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.   7  Therefore do not be partners with them. 8  For you were once darkness, but now you are light i...

In the pink???

Image
John-Michael decided to have a little green ... (it washes out within a day or two). I went for pink.  My pink will wash out in 6-8 weeks.   Just enough time to get through John-Michael's MRI appointment and his appointment with his NF specialist in late June..early July.   The pink    is just a little reminder to have fun and not be gloomy in  all of the"what if's" ...  Why?  Because I have a Savior who holds all of my days... all of John-Michael's days.   He is faithful to us.  It doesn't mean that we ignore what we see and what we experience.  However, we trust that God will use all of this for good.. (Romans 8:28).    Even yet..... We have noticed three new "bumps" on his arm.  Please join me in praying that these are not tumors.  I fight not to waste my time and energy yearning for a different set of circumstances.  .    ...

Last official day of school...

Image
So...for the last day of school... we took a few friends to Moe's for lunch.   Then, we headed off to the horse rescue.... to pet some farm animals. Next, they thought Santana and Carlos were just not clean enough and needed a little grooming. I think they had fun...and might want to go again....

Trying to fill mom's pants... LOL...

Yesterday was Mother's Day and I felt well loved.  There were homemade cards, homemade earrings, and demands for me to sit down.  My sweet husband made me a gluten-free coconut cake which was ooooooh so good.  (Coconut is my favorite...yet the rest of my family strangely doesn't enjoy it).     He cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner!  What a blessing he is to me!   After having the day completely off, I have to admit that it is hard to leave that Princess-for-a day time behind.  It is a little harder to not feel my blood pressure rise ..over normal kid stuff today.   Silly, huh? Tim Hawkins, one of my favorite comedians, wrote a song about when he had to fill his wife's "shoes" for the day.  Here is the song he wrote.   (Lyrics below)...   Enjoy the laugh from me...and Tim Hawkins...  Off to go get my yoga pants... My wife was out for three days to visit her mom, I was supposed t...

How we play outside...

Image
We like to climb trees... We like to make inventions, buckets that hide things in trees... We like to spy on the nature that plays and lives in our yard..... Chipmunks that scamper here and there..looking for bird seed to plunder... babies.... playing hide and seek... I took this photo through a window screen..that's why it is blurry.. The small purple tree to the right is where I found that little baby hiding... I am so thankful for God's beautiful creation..and time for my children and I to play outside... Psalm 148 Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD from the heavens, praise him in the heights above. Praise him, all his angels, praise him, all his heavenly hosts. Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars. Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies. Let them praise the name of the LORD, for he commanded and they were created. He set them in place forever and ever; he gave a...

The making of a sheep

Image
I haven't ever blogged my paintings in progress..until now . You can order my paintings at my website www.scripturepainting.com   or on Facebook at "scripture paintings by Rachel".  If you "like" my Facebook page, you can order a custom painting (your verse..your colors) for $10 off  the normal $50 price for an original acrylic painting on a gallery wrapped canvas.  (One offer per person).  Just tell me that you are on my Friends -list on my "scripture paintings by Rachel" when you make your order. So..here is how I painted a sheep.. just finished today.  I decided not to put a verse on it, because I have so many favorite sheep verses. Psalm 23: 1-4 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.  Psalm 79: 13 Then we your people, the sheep o...

Being examples to the flock

Image
Here is a painting I just finished today.   Sheep?  Of all the animals, God choose to liken us ...he choose  sheep.  I for one think they are really cute, but you can read my post here  to see a study I did on "why sheep" http://inhonoroftheking.blogspot.com/2011/04/why-does-god-call-us-sheep.html Today, I really thought about 1 Peter 5: 2-3.   This week has been hard... things I can't blog openly about. .. It boils down to seeing "hurt people" hurt people and themselves.  What I feel has to be a very small taste of how God grieves for us. 1 Peter 5 To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder, a witness of Christ’s sufferings and one who also will share in the glory to be revealed: 2 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; 3 not lording it over th...

IF you feel like you can't do something, how do you not give up?

Image
Arthur Booreman is an American Veteran who severely injured his back and was told he would always have to use braces and two canes to walk.  He became depressed when the medical community gave him no hope.  He gained well over 100 lbs and his mobility ..as the doctors had told him.. continued to decline.  Watch this video.  In about 4 minutes, you get a great picture of how very, very difficult it was for him not to give up.  It shows him falling over and over again.  He could have moaned, "The experts say this is impossible... so why am I even trying."  But he didn't.  He fell over and over....but he got up...over and over.  Did he do the impossible? Watch and see. There are so many things that I am NOT good at... but God has made me determined and I just don't give up easily, so I keep trying.     That character trait came from a whole lot of bad experiences that God  has allowed in my life, but the determin...
