Ephesians Week 6

Ephesians 5   5  1  Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children   2  and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. 3  But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.   4  Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.   5  For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. [ a ]   6  Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.   7  Therefore do not be partners with them. 8  For you were once darkness, but now you are light i...

Calvin and Hobbes ..summing up real friends

Image
We are going to fight.  We are going to have times ..maybe alot of them..when we don't see eye-to-eye.  There are going to be times I make you cry and times you make me cry.  That's part of this life.  We are imperfect people living in a broken world with other imperfect people...so why do fights surprise us? I pray we all will be quick to forgive and love again.   Calvin and Hobbes...great role models.... Ephesians 4: 25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. 26 “In your anger do not sin” [ d ] : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold. 28 He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need. 29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up accor...

Color of Fall in Georgia

Image
Spring and Fall are my absolutely favorite seasons...even though allergy from grasses that bloom during this time seem to plague my family regularly during these times.  I love the crimson red and golden yellow leaves that dance to the ground as the children swoop in to catch them.  Smores!   Cuddly nights!   Books read under the covers..  Crunching leaves under running feet  ... Sweet memories of fall!

Update on Koko the Gorilla

Image
I fell in love with Koko the Gorilla over 20 years ago when I read the book about Koko to my students,  in a book called, Koko's Kitten (Scholastic Press, ISBN 0-590-44425-5 ). The book tells of how Koko, the sign-language speaking gorilla... befriends a cat that she names (through sign-language)  "All Ball" ....because he has no tail.  Koko mothers and cares for the cat until All Ball escapes from Koko's cage and is hit by a car. Later, Patterson, Koko's caregiver and teacher signed to Koko that All Ball had gone, Koko signed “Bad, sad, bad” and “Frown, cry, frown, sad.”    In 1985, Koko was allowed to pick out two new kittens from a litter to be her companions. The animals she chose, later named "Lipstick" and "Smokey," were also Manxes like All Ball.  Well, Koko is now 40 years old and looking at getting a new pet.   See her here with Robin Williams and a new kitten.  I think she would rather have a tickling, Robin Williams...

Craaaaack house?

Image
So, if you read my blog in September... you know that I had my first wreck ever...in my husband's car.  (Remember, a pole just "jumped" in front of me).  Anyway, that day I developed a tingle in my right hand through my pinkie.  It wasn't painful...just annoying.  I started going to a chiropractor.  The tingle was completely gone within two weeks!   Now, I go once..every 4-6 weeks...and I like to go.    Yes, I am sure you are shocked...but I like my neck-cracking doctor because I know my body feels better..   .  It works for me.  How about you?  Do you go to a chiropractor and get a good cracking?

October 31st..what to do?

Image
I have to say that Halloween is my least favorite holiday.  I have never been interested in "evil" scary things...even before I became a believer.  Then, I learned that God demands it from us... Romans 16:19 19 Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I am full of joy over you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil. So...what do we do with October 31st?  We let the kids to go a costume party at First Redeemer church...then, we let them go "trick or Treating" to the people on our street (about 8 houses)...   I don't think they felt they missed out on a thing... John-Michael reading John 3:16 in front of First Redeemer Church. In other news,  Madeline's teacher said that Madeline is the best story writer in her entire grade level.   No surprise...such an imagination..   I was so proud of John-Michael... The other day he said to me... "Mama, you have stolen my heart".... What a...
