Ephesians Week 6

Ephesians 5   5  1  Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children   2  and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. 3  But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.   4  Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.   5  For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. [ a ]   6  Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.   7  Therefore do not be partners with them. 8  For you were once darkness, but now you are light i...

Happy Birthday, Joanne!

Image
Joanne, I found your blog, http://thesimplewife.typepad.com/ , through my favorite Bible study author, Beth Moore.  You see, when I was 27, I joined a Bible study...a Beth Moore Bible Study...and I was finally set free.  Free from the lies of my past and the shakey blocks I had built my life upon.   She asked us to pray for you and it has been my pleasure over the last couple of months to pray for your complete healing.  I imagine the progress isn't quite at the speed as you would like, but I pray you feel His hands and His love helping you on this journey.  I imagine you hear His voice like you have never been able to hear it before.  I hope His love overwhelms you with Thankfulness and the Hands of the Body of Christ lift you up.  Have a blessed, happy birthday!  Much love, Rachel Atlanta, GA

Be Still

Image
Sometimes, God calls us to action and other times, He calls us to be still.  It can be difficult to know when to do which.  That's why we must stay in His word and in prayer.  If you always act, but don't rest or just be still, you burn out.  However, if you always rest and be still, you might miss opportunity to be His hands and feet, you might miss being ministered to.  You might miss  hearing His voice in those quiet moments.   Sometimes He just calls you to recharge. Today, I got an update on Mr. Bluebird.  The vet taped and cleaned his broken wing.  Now, Mr. Bluebird must be still and give his wing time to heal.  Sometimes we feel broken by life's trials...or the trails God leads us down.  Sometimes we need time to be still and to heal,...so we will ..once again...be strong to fly,  to Glorify His Name!   Sometimes, if we don't give ourselves just time to sit at the feet of the Savior, we aren't stron...

Our Heavenly Father, The Blessed Controller of All things

Image
I woke up this morning and quickly went to check on Mr. Bluebird.  He looked better than yesterday! Thank you for the prayers.  He was hopping around in the cage, but yes, his wing is still broken.  I put a towel over his cage and loaded him in my van.  We took the 3 mile ride to Dr. Orr's animal hospital where they agreed to fix his wing for no charge. Mr. Bluebird looked stronger than he did last night, as I really didn't know if he would make it or not.   I am so glad He allowed us to find this beautiful wildbird..and allowed us to help him.  I will keep you all posted! Thanking God for daylight savings time,   Rachel Matthew 6: 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Broken wing

Image
I just found this male Bluebird with a bleeding, broken wing.  He was in the road, hopping around.  I saw him out my window when I was looking for my oldest son.    If the little bird is alive in the morning, there is a local vet that will take care of him and fix him for free.  Please pray this little guy is still alive in the morning.  THEN, I will be quite grateful for daylight savings time (the vet opens 1 hour earlier).  Thank you, Rachel

Day Light savings time, why do we still do this?

Image
http://www.webexhibits.org/daylightsaving/g.html (This graphic came from this website) Countries that use daylight saving time and those that do not). Why was daylight saving time started? It just makes mommies and children fussy for a few days or weeks. Why can’t we choose a time and stay with it? The sleepiness must cause car accidents, burnt meals, typing errors, marital arguments, etc. LOL What is the history behind it? Here is what I found. The American law by which we turn our clock forward in the spring and back in the fall is known as the Uniform Time Act of 1966. Benjamin Franklin was the person who created this idea in an essay titled "An Economical Project for Diminishing the Cost of Light” which was first published in the Journal de Paris in April 1784. However, nearly 100 years later, in 1907, William Willett, an Englishman, suggested it again. When Willett passed by homes where the shades were down, even though the sun was up, he was spurred to write a pamphlet ...

Do you act more like David, Jonathan, or Saul?

Tomorrow I have to teach 100+  nine year old students about 1 Samuel 18:1-16. Here is what I have learned so far... 1 Samuel 18:2- 16 1 After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself. 2From that day Saul kept David with him and did not let him return home to his family. 3 And Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself. 4 Jonathan took off the robe he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his tunic, and even his sword, his bow and his belt. 5 Whatever mission Saul sent him on, David was so successful that Saul gave him a high rank in the army. This pleased all the troops, and Saul’s officers as well. 6 When the men were returning home after David had killed the Philistine, the women came out from all the towns of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with timbrels and lyres. 7 As they danced, they sang: “Saul has slain his thousands, an...
